Founded in Pisa in 1968 to study the pathophysiology of the cardiovascular system and related organs, the Institute of Clinical Physiology has become a pioneer of the process of “translation” of physiological observations and measurements at molecular and cellular levels towards knowledge, new therapies, guidelines, with positive consequences on the clinical practice and citizens’ health. The staff, accounting for more than 500 employees, includes a multidisciplinary team working on a wide variety of scientific fields, including medicine, biology, physics, chemistry, engineering, computer science, psychology, statistics, etc.

Role of National Research Council - Institute of Clinical Physiology in the project INGENE 2.0
The Institute of Clinical Physiology is the scientific and administrative coordinator. IFC also implements the ICT platform for the aggregation of personal, genetic and instrumental data collected by means of the technological solutions developed by the InGene partnership.
Profile of staff engaged in the project
Raffaele Conte Graduated in “Computer Science” in December 1996 at the University of Pisa, since 2000 he is Technologist at the Institute of Clinical Physiology
of the CNR where he worked on the integration of computer systems and the administration of Unix systems and network services, with particular interest in data security issues and digital identity management.
He is currently the Head of Information Systems and Network Infrastructure for the Institute and its remote sections. The experience gained in the design and development of an information system for
External Quality Assessment programs in Laboratory Medicine allowed the creation of “QualiMedLab”, a CNR spin-off, in October 2006, of which he is the founder, together with the institution,
other researchers and private partners. Since 2006, he has been involved in the concept and subsequent establishment of the IDEM GARR Federation (the national authentication and authorization
infrastructure for research institutions and universities), initially as a member of the Management Committee and later, until February 2013, as Coordinator of the Technical-Scientific Committee.
He was scientific director of research projects in the field of ICT applied to medicine and healthcare (Medical360, POR CrEO FESR 2007-2013, DAHFNE, POR CrEO FESR 2007-2013, AdriHealthMob,
IPA Adriatic Cross Border Program 2007-2013).
Alessandro Tonacci Bioengineer, PhD in Automation, Robotics and Bioengineering, since 2011 Research Fellow at IFC-CNR. He has been involved in various local and international research projects within the Health and Care sector, with particular reference to neurosensory evaluation in subjects with neurological pathologies, and to psychophysiological as well as autonomic characterization of subjects with neurodevelopmental disorders and eating behavior using minimally obtrusive methods and wearable sensorized platforms. He has also conducted research about the evaluation of volatile compounds in the air and in the breath, both in the health and care and environmental fields. Author of about 30 articles in scientific journals (source: SCOPUS), he is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Frontiers in Physiology as a Review Editor and, in the InGene project, he plays the role of Project Manager for IFC-CNR
Francesco Sansone Graduated in “Computer Science” at the University of Pisa, since 2007 he is designer and developer of high performance web and mobile applications, with particular interest for SaaS (Software as a Service) platforms. Since 2012, at the Institute of Clinical Physiology of the CNR, he works on the design and development of ROA (Resource Oriented Architecture) platforms, web based architectures and web services integration.
